As we approach the end of the 2006-07 school year, we cannot avoid the ambiguity that surrounds each of us. We have a strong sense of belongingness to Weston and to the events that have defined this year. Even though the tragic events of September 29th may have been the overwhelming story of this year there have been numerous activities, contests, challenges, and joys that have been a part of every individual’s personal story. Perseverance has been evident in both staff and students yearlong journey. Without question growth has been the most obvious outcome and we cannot escape the whole sense of overcoming the hills and valleys that confronted many during the year. The seniors will be letting go and moving on and we have a sense of loss as many have developed strong relationships and friendships that will last a lifetime. The understanding developed over the year has been one of community. We realize how our lives are intertwined and we have learned lessons that were premature for young people. We have emerged stronger and a foundation has been built that will prepare students for their journey into the future.

 

In this newsletter is a survey. We want to improve as a school and we can use your feedback to guide us in making decisions about the way we do things, what we do and what we teach. We are willing to address areas of concern whether it is the use of technology, communications, co-curricular activities, policies, expectations, curriculum, and procedures. We are going through a process of strategic planning and we want to develop very clear goals and indicators. You can help us by responding to the survey and returning it to school.
